Paramaribo, Suriname, February 10, 2026, Republic Bank (Suriname) Limited reaffirmed its commitment to community health and national development as proud main sponsor of Cancer Awareness Day, held on Saturday, February 7, 2026, in Albina, Marowijne. The outreach initiative, hosted in collaboration with Stichting Kanker Diagnostiek en Preventie Suriname, brought critical education and awareness services to residents of the district, with a special focus on cervical cancer awareness.

The observance followed the close of Cervical Cancer Awareness Month in January, underscoring the importance of sustained advocacy and early detection efforts. Cervical cancer remains one of the most preventable forms of cancer when detected early through routine screening and timely medical intervention. Despite this, many women remain unaware of the risks, symptoms, and the lifesaving benefits of regular screenings.

Through this initiative, Republic Bank stood alongside healthcare professionals and community stakeholders to help bridge that gap. The educational session in Albina provided valuable information on prevention, early warning signs, and the importance of Pap smears and HPV screening. By facilitating access to accurate information and encouraging proactive healthcare practices, the Bank contributed meaningfully to empowering women to take charge of their health. As a financial institution deeply rooted in the communities it serves, Republic Bank recognizes that sustainable development extends beyond economic growth. Investing in health awareness initiatives such as Cancer Awareness Day reflects the Bank’s broader corporate social responsibility philosophy, supporting programmes that uplift, educate, and strengthen communities across Suriname.

Special appreciation is extended to the Marwina Streekziekenhuis and the District Commissioner’s Office of Marowijne North-East, whose collaboration and support were instrumental in making this impactful day possible. Their partnership exemplifies the power of collective action in addressing pressing public health concerns.

By serving as proud main sponsor, Republic Bank Suriname not only provided financial support but also demonstrated active corporate leadership in advancing national health priorities. The Bank’s involvement helped expand the reach of the initiative, ensuring that residents of Albina and surrounding communities could benefit from critical cancer awareness education.

Cervical cancer awareness is more than a monthly observance; it is a continuous call to action. Through partnerships like these, Republic Bank Suriname remains steadfast in its mission to help build healthier, more informed, and more resilient communities.

Together, we continue building a healthier society.
