On November 18th, 2025, Republic Bank (Suriname) N.V. and UNICEF Suriname partnered to strengthen the early learning program in Suriname. This partnership, part of Republic Bank’s Power to Make a Difference program, was officially launched during a signing ceremony at the Marriott Hotel by the Managing Director of Republic Bank (Suriname) N.V., Brian Alleyne, and the UNICEF Representative to Suriname and Guyana, Gabriel Vockel.
The program will support daycares with learning materials and tools, strengthen learning environments to be more inclusive, and child-friendly, equip teachers and caregivers with skills for early stimulation and play-based learning and provide parents with simple ways to support learning at home.
UNICEF highlighted that investment in early education is essential, as more than half of Surinamese three-year-olds are currently not enrolled in any learning program. Republic Bank noted that investing in children means investing in the future.
The launch included songs and performances of preschoolers and formally concluded with the signing of a heart-shaped emblem, to which preschoolers added colorful handprints as a symbol of hope and growth.
Republic Bank and UNICEF reaffirm their ongoing commitment to giving every child in Suriname a childhood filled with play, discovery, and learning.
